More often than not, it’s the little buys that end up making your life so much easier.

Case in point, wireless earphones. The tech-upgrade means you no longer need to be conjoined to your phone in order to listen to your favourite music, audio books and podcasts, freeing up your hands and pockets.

From the very well-rated $70 wireless earbuds that have been likened to the infamous Apple AirPods, to the $49 over-ear headphones with rave reviews, here are some options that have earned the tick of approval from online reviewers.

At $24.99, these wireless earphones are the cheapest option on the list. While the sounds quality is comparable to their $24.99 price tag, the two-hour runtime and case’s eight-hour charge makes it a great option if you want to experiment with a wireless model, without financially committing.

They could also be a great present for older kids or teens who aren’t as careful with their possessions. After all, a lost pair of $24.99 earphones are much cheaper to replace than Apple AirPods which are 10 times the price at $249.

WHY BUY WIRELESS EARPHONES?

They’re convenient, stylish and a great choice for commuters and the gym, while being discreet for the workplace, there’s a great deal of freedom that comes with not being literally connected to your phone. While they were once considerably more expensive than their wired counterparts, there are now models which cater towards every pricepoint. Plus, once you experience the joys of not having to detangle well … anything, it’s difficult to go back.

WHAT ARE THE BEST WIRELESS EARPHONES

With so many options on the market, you can choose which earphones you want based on your needs. Some factors you may want to prioritise include budget, sound quality, aesthetics or battery time. While price is by no measure of sound quality (with the above options as proof) some top-tier brands to look out for include Bose, Bang & Olufsen, Sony and Jabra.

Wireless earphones and headphones are also a great big ticket item to get on sale, with the Boxing Day sales, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Click Frenzy shopping events a great time to take advantage.

ARE APPLE AIRPODS WORTH IT?

If you have the budget to spend, or just aesthetically prefer the classic Apple AirPods, they’re a great investment and have earned a very dedicated following for a reason. The sound quality is great, they’re quick to charge and pair instantly to your devices. And while no one want to lose a rogue AirPod mid-run or say, while getting off the bus (which this writer has personally done), Apple does sell both replacement buds and charging cases.

Although they rarely go on sale, if you’re patient, sometimes websites like Amazon, eBay or Catch.com.au do offer them at reduced prices. Just remember to get in quick, because they often sell out quickly. For example, when Amazon had a 15 per cent off Airpods Pro sale during Amazon Prime Day, they sold out within half an hour on-site.
